Community Outreach

Welcome to the Community Outreach section of the Putnam County Supervisor of Elections Office.  The best voter is an educated voter and we take great pride in our many new and innovative ways of reaching voters. Here are some of the ways YOUR elections office is reaching out to the community:

Voter Registration Drives:  Year round we participate in a variety of community events such as the Putnam County Agricultural Fair, Constitution Day at St. Johns River State College, Palatka Jr Sr High School College and Career Fair,  …just to name a few! We also visit each county high school and college at least once a school year to get students registered to vote. If you would like to have voter registration at your event, please let us know! We would be happy to send a representative from our office or furnish all the appropriate supplies to make your drive a success.

Sunshine State Young Reader Student Voting Program: In our elementary and junior high schools, we encourage reading and governmental education by providing mock elections where students may vote on their favorite Sunshine State Young Reader book for that selected year. We use official equipment to produce a real ballot, bring certified election equipment and allow the students to cast their vote for their favorite book from the pre-determined list. Each student will receive an “I Voted” sticker, just like at the real polls. In addition to the voting equipment we supply educational information so that the students may bring it home and hopefully spark a discussion with their parent or guardian about the importance of voting. To find this year’s list of Sunshine State Books visit http://www.floridamediaed.org

Open Houses: The Putnam County Elections Office promotes open and honest government. In an effort to provide access to the public, we have invited several groups into our office for exclusive “behind the scenes” tours of the elections office.  Elections Office Staff show each work area and provide a description of what each department does in and out of election season. Call our office if you and/or your organization would be interested in scheduling a tour.
